If you have a disability and need an accommodation: let us know early, so we can prepare. Whenever possible, make your accommodation requests at least a few days before you come to court. 

To make a request in-person, ask court security personnel to direct you to the court’s Chief Clerk’s or District Executive’s office.

Advance requests can be made online, by e-mail, letter, or telephone.

Submit a Request for an ADA Accommodation

E-mail/Letter

Write your request via email or letter to your local Chief Clerk or District Executive’s Office. Please include:

  • your name
  • a brief description of your disability
  • the accommodation(s) you want
  • name of the case (and number, if known)
  • name of the judge (if known)
  • date(s) you will be in court
  • your contact information, including mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number.

If you make your request by email, please write “ADA Accommodation Request” in the subject line.

If you make your request by letter, please write “ADA Accommodation Request” at the top.

PART 52. Ex Parte Requests for Judicial Accommodations

Part 52 Ex Parte Requests for Judicial Accommodations assists people in obtaining an accommodation without unnecessarily compromising their privacy.

This rule:

  • allows judges to consider an ex parte application for a reasonable accommodation without fear of violating their ethical obligations (see 22 NYCRR § 100.3(B)(6)(e))
  • makes clear when disclosure is required and what exactly can be disclosed.
