Where Else to Go: More Ethics Resources

The Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics has a limited sphere of operation under applicable statutes and court rules.  We can only respond to ethics inquiries from individuals subject to Part 100 of the Rules of the Chief Administrative Judge (22 NYCRR pt 100), such as New York State judges or quasi-judicial officials, regarding their own conduct going forward.

Thus, we are not the right place for every question.  The New York State Unified Court System offers the following resources to assist with other kinds of ethics-related inquiries.

Financial Disclosures

Part 40 - If you are a judge, justice, or court employee with questions about filing financial disclosures pursuant to 22 NYCRR Part 40, please contact the UCS Ethics Commission.  Telephone: 212-428-2899.

Part 100.5 - If you are a judicial candidate, please see the JCEC's FAQs. For forms and instructions, please contact the UCS Ethics Commission. Telephone: 212-428-2899.

Part 100.4(H) - Reporting income to the clerk of the court is no longer required. See AO-347 (approved 2/10/23).

For Attorneys (EXTERNAL)

As a courtesy, we note that attorneys seeking to comply with the Rules of Professional Conduct (22 NYCRR pt 1200) may seek guidance from a bar association's ethics committee (e.g. NYSBA or NYCBA) or hotline (e.g. NYCLA or NYCBA).
