This handbook provides information concerning the jury experience in the trial courts of New York State. A trial jury decides whether or not the person who is charged with a crime can be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Grand Juror's Handbook

This handbook is for citizens summoned to serve as grand jurors in New York State. A grand jury decides whether or not there is enough evidence to charge an accused person with a crime or other offense. In New York State, a person cannot be brought to trial for a felony unless that person has been indicted by a grand jury.

Information for Employers

This pamphlet explains the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees with regard to jury service in New York State. The same rules apply to trial jury and to grand jury service.
