Overview
If you do not have an attorney, you may visit the Help Center for free information about the law and court procedure in Supreme Court. Information about special proceedings (Article 78 proceedings), matrimonial/family proceedings, foreclosure, real property/housing and more, is available in the Help Center. Free court forms, sample forms, instructions, information guides, pamphlets and brochures are also available to help you understand court procedures. If you need or want to hire an attorney, the Help Center may provide referral information for bar associations, pro bono programs/legal services, law schools, legal clinics, law libraries and alternative dispute resolution centers and other low-cost legal alternatives.
The Help Center was created in response to an increased number of people who could not afford an attorney and instead represented themselves. Each year thousands of people visit the Help Center. Whether you want to start a case, or a case has been started against you, visit the Help Center to get the information you need to navigate your case. If you are unable to visit the Help Center, information about the law and court procedure is also available on CourtHelp. To find out where other Help Centers are located, visit the Help Center directory page.
Court Help Center personnel do not provide legal advice.
