Business Department
The Bronx County Clerk accepts for filing, pursuant to Section 130 of the General Business Law, certificates of sole proprietorships, partnerships, and assumed names for businesses, including DBA, for businesses the address of which is in Bronx County. LLC filings are handled by the Department of State.
Business Registrations, Amendments, and Discontinuances
To file for a new business registration, business amendment, or discontinuance of a business, you will need to submit the appropriate business form and filing fee.
- Forms may be purchased online at BlumbergLegalForms.com or at any commercial or stationary store that sells legal forms.
- Forms must be typed or printed legibly in blue or black ink.
- You must bring an identification that bears your signature, as the forms must be notarized.
- For business registrations: A telephone number and proof of the business address must be provided as well (e.g. Lease, Utility, or NYS ID if the business address is the same as the home address).
- All fees are payable to the Bronx County Clerk via NYS attorney’s check, certified bank check, or money order. Cash and credit card payments are only accepted in person.
If filing by mail, please include the following and mail your request to our Mailing Address:
- Appropriate ORIGINAL notarized business form
- NYS Attorney’s check, certified bank check, or money order payable to: Bronx County Clerk
- Self-addressed stamped envelope for your receipt

Publications of LLCs & Legal Notice Designations
Under New York LLC Law 206, every new LLC must publish its formation notice for six consecutive weeks in one daily newspaper, and one weekly newspaper, both of which must be designated by the county clerk of the county where the LLC’s office is located. The Bronx County Clerk’s Office has a rotating list for the assignments of newspapers for publication.
For information on currently approved newspapers, please provide your LLC Filing Receipt from the Department of State, which must specify Bronx County, in person or email in PDF format to [email protected].

Corporation Filings
The Bronx County Clerk does not process filings for the following business types. These filing types must be submitted to the NYS Department of State:
- Business Corporation
- Not-for profit organization
- Clubs
- Socials
- Sorority or Fraternity
- Limited partnership (LP)
- Limited liability partnership (LLP)
- Limited liability corporation status (LLC)
