Issuance of a Peddler’s License
Under New York General Business Law §32, every honorably discharged member of the United States Armed Forces and a veteran of any war or who shall have served in the United States Armed Forces overseas, and the surviving spouse of any such veteran, if a New York State resident, shall have the right to hawk, peddle, vend and sell goods, wares or merchandise or solicit trade upon the streets and highways within the county of his or her residence by procuring a license for that purpose.
To apply for a Veterans’ Peddler License, please appear in person and present the following:
- Original or Certified copy of DD214 (stating honorably discharged or service overseas)
- Valid driver’s/non-driver’s license or other photo ID with signature
- Proof of residency in Bronx County for a period of at least 6 months
- Two 2” X 2” passport sized photos of yourself with white/off-white background
There is no fee charged for issuing the Veterans’ Peddler License.
Filing & Certified Copies of DD214
Under New York State Military Law §250, an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Armed Forces is entitled to record their Discharge Certificate (DD-214) with the County Clerk’s Office where they reside.
Veterans can record their DD-214 with the Bronx County Clerk’s Office if they have lived in Bronx County for at least 6 months and brings one of the following
- Your original honorable discharge papers (DD-214),
- A certified copy of your discharge papers, or
- A replacement certificate issued by the U.S. military if your original has been lost.
Your DD-214 will be returned to you immediately and there is no cost to record the document. The document will be kept sealed from the public for your privacy.
Once recorded in the County Clerk’s Office, a certified copy of a DD-214 is available at any time to the Veteran. A certified copy of a Discharge is legally accepted as the original document. There is no charge to file or obtain a certified copy of your DD-214.
